Statement:

“ I sing the song of equality ..

There is nothing greatest without man in universe”

The same colored blood circulate every hearts of human. So their should have close relationship & kinship to the human life which is very natural. But why there is revenge, war , terrorism , genocide etc is happen every day in the world ? My philosophy behind this is that anti communal activities instead of communal harmony and the inspiration of internal devil of human which he achieved from God due to his/her disobedience in heaven before coming this planet is responsible for this things . The man made disaster of first and 2nd world war is the bright example of devil nature of human which is to be continued in many way.

In India sub continent lot of communal revenge happened with myriad casualty of Hindu – Muslim people after Indo – Pak freedom of 1947. During the liberation war of Bangladesh in 1971 the biggest and worst genocide was happened here by Pakistani army through their operation crake down where the minority Hindu community were more targeted person for killing due to communal reason . More than three million Bangalee Muslim and Hindu people had died ( shaheed ) for achieving the freedom of Bangladesh.

Bangladesh is the country of communal harmony where multi religious and cultures community live here by enjoying the fundamental rights. I have created this harmonious decisive moment of intimacy and kinship of saint Krishna Pada Das and farmer Ruhul Amin Sekh from Paturia on the bank river Padma of Manik gonj District Bangladesh to depict the heaven of harmony which is only need to build the future calm, peaceful, warless and paradise look world for coming generation.

Statement: His eyes flitted forward and back, and having surveyed the scene for possible danger, it stopped. The head stooped, and that was how he stayed. Crouched on the floor of a bus full of Bangalis, the Pahari (hill person) amongst us, was living in occupied land. Keeping out of trouble was his best chance for survival.

It was only when the uniformed men with guns boarded the bus and prodded him that he raised his eyes. Scared, tired, hurt, angry eyes. But he knew enough to not express his anger. Meekly he obeyed the commands. His humiliation was also ours, but we did not complain. We were tourists in our own land, but the constitutional guarantees enshrined in our laws, while not fully respected anywhere, was particularly absent here. As well-connected Bangalis, we were far more safe than he was. But the rules of occupation are never generous, and they had guns. They left. We breathed more easily. He continued his journey with his head bowed. I took no photographs.

Walking through Rangamati as Bangali tourists was a disconcerting feeling. Many of the Bangalis here were also poor. Displaced from their homes in far away places, they had been dumped here with promises of a happy life. Left to fend for themselves, they joined the power chain well above the Paharis, but very low down all the same.

At the top of the chain was the military. Then the wealthy Bangalis, the ones who made the deals, then came the Paharis who had sided with the government. The Bangali settlers (the poor ones anyway), were quite a bit further down. The Paharis never dared to reach for the rungs of that ladder.

Rangamati was still a beautiful place. The homes buried beneath the lake when the Kaptai Dam was built, the tropical rain forests that had been destroyed, the hill people who were forced to leave their ancestral land, were things that never made it to our history books. The Hill Tracts featured in the picturesque postcards and tourism ministry books and the well rehearsed cultural programmes in the government Tribal Centre.

Occasional photographers from the lowlands came to discover the ‘authentic tribal lifestyle’. A bare chest woman bathing by a waterfall, backlit women with children strapped on their backs, a wrinkled old woman smoking a pipe and other photographic trophies were potential award winners.

As anticipated, the tiktikis (lit: geckos, local term for government spies, generally members of ‘Special Branch’) soon found us. They followed us everywhere. Asked stupid questions. Made notes. Questioned the people we had spoken to or visited. We consciously stayed away from friends. No point in getting them into trouble.

At a later visit, Drik’s printer Nasir and I had gone to Bandorban. Amongst the photographs I’d taken on that trip was this one of a mother weaving. Perhaps I was repeating what the trophy hunters had done, but the poster above the window, part of a UNICEF blindness prevention campaign, had words that seemed poignant. “hai re kopal mondo, chokh thakite ondho’. (oh what irony we find, we have eyes but are blind.)

Ever since he was a child, Abdul Malek Babul has been intrigued by the visual, Integral to his photography are early influences of the natural world and the rich material taken from village life. After completion of college life he was admitted into Armanitola Youth Welfare Centre to study short hand and typing. Whilst there, he was amazed to find some of the senior students experimenting with light and chemicals to form visual images on pieces of blank paper. The excitement of capturing images on film was stupendous. Over the years he has felt that photographs are not merely interpretative but a translation of mind to soul and taking photographs has been a profoundly spiritual experience.

Statement:

For my profession, I have to come home late at night almost every day. On my way back home at midnight I regularly encounter the night guards performing their duties on the roads when there is no other living being there. Their friendly and helping behavior make me curious about them. However, I have come up with the fact that night guards lead a very struggling life.

At one time my interest grows even further more. I spent several nights with them to see how they work, how they lead their life, how they fight with wicked people and many more. The findings are disappointing any way.

Night guards play an important role in the society. When everyone sleeps at night, they stay awake for protecting us from the possible danger. It is for their responsible duty that we lead a safe life. However, I was astounded when I came to know that they get only Tk2200-3000 per month as their salary.

For extra income, some night guards even work in day time. I found that some of them work as a rickshaw puller or as a hawker along with the night guard duty since it is impossible to maintain their family with the little amount of money that they get as their salary.

From my experience of spending nights with night guards and with all of my findings of their struggling life, I’ve made this photo story on night guards. I think the masses can never imagine how struggling a night guard’s life is.

Through this story I want to ask the humanity that ’Don’t they deserve something more against their service to save our valuable resource?’

In my opinion, they are the heroes….the UNSUNG HEROES…

BIO:

Wedding photography is not just an assignment to Prito Reza, but the passion and art that matters to him. Combining his experiences in wedding photography industry and his flair to provide information through his photojournalistic manner, Prito realizes the potential of wedding photojournalism in Bangladesh.

Unlike the conventional click-and-snap approach to wedding photography in Bangladesh, the Pathshala graduate exercises his imagination and blends it with his knack for documentary storytelling style. Thus the minute details revealed in student’s images.

Prito, the former photojournalist in The Daily Ittefaq, The Daily New Age and DRIK news; participated in quite a few joint exhibition. Wedding Diary is his first solo show and the first ever wedding photojournalism initiative at the same time. He dares to dream that through his ardent efforts, no matter what the outcomes may be, the photographic genre will reach to a new height in Bangladesh.

Once when I came to the Church for my cousin’s funeral I took some photographs. When I saw my relatives crying, I could not hold back my tears. All my memories of him came to my mind. I was very emotional and could not take photographs properly.

Death affects everybody. As funeral rites are performed it is a time of great sorrow for relatives and the bereaved. It shows on their faces. At this crucial moment they cannot control their emotions.

The Bible says, “The souls of the just are in God’s hands” (Wisdom 3:1). No man in the world is physically immortal. Everybody will die. The eternal truth is that man must die if he is born. For this reason, man wants to keep himself pure beyond sufferings, discrimination, violence, and despair.

The graveyard is a boundary. According to religious and social norms, three and half feet of deep ground is the permanent home of the dead. Within these boundaries, all are equal, no matter rich or poor. When we throw soil onto the dead, we realize that this will happen to us all.

The graveyard is a solitary and sacred place. At times of mourning for those who we have lost forever, it is the place we go to seek consolation.
